Make your own Waste-free Dish Washing Powder

Domestic chores, no one really likes them do they?  Or do they? Not I, that is for certain.  However, what gets me happy and more motivated in doing them is knowing the products I am using are waste-free, toxic-free and safe for my family and the environment.

I have been trialing this dish washing powder recipe for a few weeks now and man am I impressed with the results.  Would be rude not to share now wouldn't it?  That's a big yes!  So here it is.

1 cup Salt

1 cup Citric acid

1 cup Bi-card Soda

3 tablespoons of arrowroot powder

2 tablespoons pure castile liquid soap

20 drops Lemon Myrtle essential oil

15 drops of Lavender oil

Mix dry ingredients together in a large bowl.  Add Castile soap and essential oils.  Mix thoroughly.  Store in a container with a lid.  Use as you would a "regular" Dishing washing powder (this is now your new regular).

Note: it can go a little hard in the container, but is easily broken up when you scoop is out.  I used Lemon Myrtle and Lavender oils because they have great antibacterial properties and smell amazing.  You can use whatever oils you like.
